Freelancing Stats publishes independent market research about the Upwork job market, built on continuous monitoring of publicly visible job postings. Figures describe the postings we monitor and may differ from Upwork's internal accounting. Definitions, cohort rules, and known limitations are documented on the methodology page.

This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Upwork Global Inc. "Upwork" is used nominatively to describe the marketplace the data concerns.

What the research is for

Everything published here is information, not advice. Market statistics can inform a decision about where to position, what to charge, or which postings to skip, but they cannot guarantee an outcome, and we accept no liability for decisions made on them. The content is provided as is, without warranties of any kind.

Citing our work

You are welcome to quote and republish our statistics and charts with attribution to Freelancing Stats and a link to the page you drew from. For press inquiries or custom data questions, write to contact@freelancingstats.com.

Pre-orders and purchases

Paid products are sold through Polar, our merchant of record. Polar is the seller of record for your purchase: it handles checkout, invoicing, applicable taxes, and payment data under its own terms.

The founding pre-order reserves a niche report at the founding price. The report is delivered to your purchase email within 30 days of purchase; if we do not deliver within that window, you receive a full refund. Refund questions can go to us at the contact address above or directly through Polar.

Waitlist

Joining the waitlist is free and never obligates a purchase. How signup data is handled is described on the privacy page.
